Our military  drawing was created as project to illustration for famous Austrian magazine on the turn of 20 century Österreichs illustrierte"and  depicting one of the episodes of WWI , This project was created in 1915 by famous Austrian illustrator, horse- and sport painter Carl Franz Bauer, born 1879 in Vienna (d. 1954 in Vienna).1897-1901 the artist studied in the Viennese Academy under Ch.Griepenkerl. He executed numerous caricatures, illustrations and poster projects for magazines in Austria and abroad.

Inscription: signed C.F.Bauer and dated 1915, lower right.On the reverse inscribed in German: " ..Fights in South Tirol. A machine gun list on a karst plateau... For Illustrierte Zeitung.."
