Rare genre painting with street children in Naples was executed ca. in 1840s by Italian listed painter Alfredo (Sefredo) Caldini , active in 1840-1850s as genre painter with motives from Venice, Naples and Bosphorus .

The Naples Lazzaroni is used as a generic term to include various kinds of the lower class people in Naples. Described as "street people under a chief", they were often depicted as "beggars"—which some actually were, while others subsisted partly by service as messengers, porters, etc.

Inscription: signed twice Caldini fec.(painted) lower right and lower left, on the reverse of - original title of painting  in italian: "Lazaroni di Napoli".

Technique: oil on cardboard. Extreme rare and luxuriousy original period gold-plated frame.

Measurements: unframed w 9 2/3" x h 12 3/4" (39 x 48 cm), framed w 14 3/4" x h 18 " (68 x 77 cm).

Condition: in very good condition
