Portrait of Maria Theresia Princess von Hohenzollern with her child was purchased on important auction by auctionshouse Sothebys "Aus deutschen Sclössern/Ancestral Attics" (Castle Monrepos by Stuttgart/Germany, 9-14.october 2000, Lot Nr.924) : The last owner of the painting was King Ludwig III of Bavaria. The sitter of painting is Princess Maria Theresia von Hohenzollern ((1867-1909) was the daughter of Prince Ludwig von Bourbon and both Sicilies and Duchess Mathilde Ludovica iof Bavaria. 1889 Maria Theresia von Hohenzollern married Prince Wilhelm von Hohenzollern. After her death prince Wilhelm married with Duchess Adelgunde von Bavaria.

The author of this important portrait - Maria Countess von Kalckreuth (1857 Duesseldorf - 1897 Dachau), daughter of painter Stanislaus von Kalckreuth, sister of painter Leopold Count von Kalckreuth. Maria Kalckreuth studied by her father in Weimar, later in Munich by Zimmermann and Liezen-Mayer.She worked most active in Munich and Dachau. Her main area was beside the figure paintings the portrait, in which kind she, particularly with her strong portraits from aristocracy circles, efficient carried out. Her portraits corresponds about to that of the early Lenbach. Large figure painting by M.Kalckreuth (silver medall at the world exhibiton in Chicago,1893) situated in Dachau. She exhibited 1889 at the academical exhibition in Berlin; Great Art Exhibiton in Berlin in 1893/95; in Glaspalast-Munich in 1888-1890 and Munich Secession in 1892 , 1894 and 1896.
