High quality oriental portrait of an arabian girl was executed in 1904 by renown Austrian portrait and genre artist Alois Hans Schram (Schramm), born 1864 in Vienna, died 1919 in Vienna. This important painting was exhibited with original title "Beggar child fom Hauvuan. From cycle "Studies from Damaskus-Syria"" in the exhibition of Viennese artist union "Kuenstlerhaus" (13.11.1904-26.12.1904). On the reverse of the frame there is the exhibition label of Kuenstlerhaus with dating 1904 and inventory number 3595. The authority and dates of exhibition were confirmed by Dr. Wladimir Aichelburg, Vienna Kuenstlerhaus Archive . Alois Hans Schramm studied at the Viennese Academy under Hans Makart and J.M. Trenkwald. He recieved 3. State Prize and 2-year study stipendium for travell to Rome (1889-1890). From here he travelled to France (1893/1894), England,Spain,Sicily, Greek , Egypt and Syria. Since 1891 he is in Vienna again and in 1892 he recieved 2nd silver medall, 1902 - the "Erzherzog Carl" medall and 1908 - Large State Gold Medall . His works situated in museums of Vienna and Denver. Since 1890 he was a member of the artist union "Kuenstlerhaus".

Inscription: signed and dated 1904 lower right, on the reverse : exhibition`s label of the Viennese artist union "Kuenstlerhaus ", with date1904 and and inventory number; labels of Viennese auction house Dorotheum, where it was purchased by previous owner.

Technique: oil on cardboard. Luxuriousy partly gold-plated original frame .

Measurements: unframed w 8 1/4 " x h 10 1/4" (21 x 26 cm), framed w 15 1/4" x h 17 1/8 " (38,5 x 43,5 cm).

Condition: in good condition.
