Genre painting with two ottoman (harem?) beauties and parrot was executed in the middle of 19 th century by good listed French genre painter and orientalist Louis Devedeux (1820 Clermont-Ferrand - 1874 Paris). His paintings arrived high estimates at the international auctions until 80 000 € (see cataloque of the auction"Orientalism"by Gros & Delettrez,10. Dezember 2007 ,Lot 46).Devedeux was the pupil of P.Delaroche and Decamps and since 1836 of Ecole des B.-Arts. He exhibited since 1838 in the Salon with portraits, historical paintings, european and orientalistic genre scenes, exhibted also in foreign states: Germany/Hamburg(1872), Austria/Vienna (1876). A one Harem painting by him situated in the Metropolitan Museum in New York and his work "Femmes turques" - in Museum of Muehlhausen.

Inscription: signed lower left, on the reverse of stretcher - old exhibition label with dates and adress of the painter .

Technique: oil on canvas. Luxuriousy original period gold -plated Salon frame.

Measurements: unframed 30" x 38 1/4" (67 x 87 cm); framed 37 1/2 " x 45 3/4" (91 x 101 cm)

Condition: in very good condition
