Absolutely authentical work by very known Hungarian painter of 19th century Karoly Marko the younger ( 1822 Budapest - 1891 Moscow).son, pupil and assistant of most renown Hungarian classical landscape painter Karoly Marko senior (1791 -1860). This work was created by the artist in 1873 and 5 years later he painted more larger ( 132 x 97 cm) "Sheperdesses on the way to market in the far italian mountains landscape", which is very similar to our work (sold in Van Ham auction on 30 october 1999) . Works by Karoly Marko arrive high estimates by different international auctions (until 70 000 USD).Karoly Marko junior travelled with father to Italy , where he worked and lived from 1838 to 1884, and since 1884 - in Russia. He painted landscapes in the style of his father and teacher , but somewhat cruder and in colder colors: "Ideal landscape" (1858) and "Sunset "(1861), both now in the Museum of the forming arts Budapest; Sunset (1861, ebda); "Sunset "(National Picture Gallery, Graz).

Inscription: signed and dated 1873 lower right, on the frame - bronze plaque with the artist`s name , on the reverse of stretcher - old collector`s label with name of the artist.
Technique: oil on canvas . Gold-plated biedermeier style frame.
Measurements: unframed w 27 1/2" x h 22 3/4 " (70 x 58 cm); framed w 32 " x h 27 1/4" (81 x 69 cm).
