High quality 17th century original work with a garland of flowers surrounding the images of Madonna and angels. We thank Mr. Professor Giancarlo Sestieri, Rome, the expert for Italian paintings of 17th century , for the identification of this painting as a beautiful co-operation work of two important Italian masters : Giovanni Stanchi dei Fiori (as author of the garland) and Filippo Lauri (as author of images of madonna and angels).
Giovanni Stanchi, called Stanchi dei Fiori (1608 - Rome - 1675) became his glory for his still lifes and paintings of flowers.His works resent in important catalogues d´ art and art auctions . His painting (Ghirlanda of flowers and butterflies) is exposed in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
Filippo Lauri ( 1623 - Rome - 1694) , famous baroque religion artist, active mainly in Rome. his story which featured into the biographies by Baldinucci. Filippo´s had been A pupil of Andrea Sacchi. In 1654 Lauri became a member of the Accademia di San Luca in Rome, and more later became the Principe or director of the academy. He often painted figures for Claude Lorraine , Giovanni Stanchi and Fillipo Gagliardi.
