Johann Caspar Herterich ( 1843 in Ansbach - 1905 in Munich) was Munich history and genre painter and an influential teacher at that academy of arts. Johann Caspar Herterich (also Johann Kaspar Herterich) was the son and pupil of the sculptor and restorer Franz Herterich (1798-1876) and older brother of the painter Ludwig von Herterich. After his removal to Munich he became pupil of Philipp Foltz and Carl Theodor of Piloty. Starting from 1882 he was an auxiliary teacher and since 1884, as a successor of Gyula Benczúr, professor of the academy of the forming arts Munich in the nature class. To his pupils among others ranked Benno Elkan, Iosif Iser, Bruno Paul Hetze, Alexander Eckener, Max Slevogt, Theodor Doebner, August Savage and Leonid Ossipowitsch Pasternak. A few works by him situated in the museum "New Pinakotek" , Munich.
