Rare military portrait miniature from the Napoleonic time was executed ca. in 1815 by famous Austrian miniature painter Franz Spitzer (born in Vienna in 1780). Inscription:signed and dated on the reverse: "Spitzer pinx, 1815", old label with description of the sitter and short biography of the artist in German. (see photos).
Technique: oil on paper, laid down on wood panel. Oginal period gold-plated wood frame.
Measurements: unframed w 2 " x h 2 3/8" (5 x 6 cm), framed w 2 1/2 " x h 3 " (6,3 x 7,5 cm)
