Extreme high quality portrait miniature of Carl Prince Khovenhueller from the famous high aristocracy clan, resident in austrian Carinthia, which was documentary here since 1396 and its headquarters was castle Landskron.The miniature was painted due to the backside inscription in 1773 and have all stylistic and quality criteria to be attributed to one of the most important German miniaturists in 18th/19th centuries Friedrich Heinrich Fueger (1851 Heilbronn - 1818 Vienna). Probably this miniature was executed by Fueger after his studies in the Academies in Ludwigsburg und Leipzig on the travell through Carinthia to Italy, where he stayed for few years before he came to Vienna in 1774.

Inscription: unsigned, on the reverse - originally dated and inscribed in German: "..1773, Fürst Carl Khovenhüller".

Technique: gouache on ivory. Original period gilt bronze frame.

Measurements: unframed w 2 1/2 " x h 3 1/8 " (6 x 7,7 cm), framed w 2 3/4 " x h 3 3/8 " (7 x 8,5 cm).

Condition: in very good condition .
