Masterfully genre scene was executed in 1860 in Duesseldorf by good listed German genre painter Eberhard Stammel ( 1833 Düeren - 1906 Duesseldorf). This painting was executed at the General German and historical exhibition in Cologne in 1861 and at the Academical Art Exhibition in Berlin in 1866. In the same year the painting was purchased by Prussian King and German Emperor Wilhelm I. This information was described in the important monography "Malerwerke des 19. Jahrhunderts" (Important paintings of 19th century) by Friedrich von Boetticher (Lepzig, 1892) , where it was listed under numbers 2 and 4 with original German title: " Der Morgen nach dem Gelage". The painting became so large popularity, that the author made a few replics ( see No. 34, 37, 38 from the same monography) .

Eberhard Stammel (1833-1906), the pupil of Duesseldorf Academy under Carl Sohn, travelled Germany, Niederlande, visited Paris and settled in Duesselodorf , where he created his best genre scenes from the life of the middle classes and the craftsmen, occasionally with an approach of irony.
