Due to the style, quality and artist`s monogramm we attributed this portrait to the hand of Bolognese portrait and historical painter Giuseppe Guizzardi (1779 - 1861). For comparison with other portraits by him see following link from Museo Virtuale della Certosa: http://certosa.cineca.it/chiostro/persone.php?ID=481268

The artist trained in the use of parts of the figure and the restoration of old paintings. The earliest date known to us dates back to 1804. This will allow him to stay in Rome until 1809. Here strigerà a lasting and sincere friendship with Pelagius Palagi, which we present in Rome in 1806. We find confirmation of this tie in to our beautiful portrait painted and remains the property of the palace until his death. In 1817 during the annual awards of the Academy of Bologna is showing two portraits to the natural oil paintings. For the same reason in 1819 shows a portrait in oils life-size figure in half. We know that among academics vote in 1819 and then in 1821, 24 and 42, where he is referred to as ´painter´.
