Masterfully genre scene from West Ukrainian village life: funny Guzulian peasant girls ridding to the village wedding. This painting was executed by good listed Polish horse and folk genre artist Władysław Szerner (geboren 1836 Warshaw - 1915 in Unterhaching, Germany).

He graduated from the Institute of Nobility, and from 1862 he was educated at the school of fine arts in Warsaw under the direction of Rafał Hadziewicza, Aleksander Kamiński, his teachers there included Christian and Marcin Zaleski. From 1865 he was in Munich, where he continued his studies at the Academy of fine arts, among his teachers were Alexander Wagner, Hermann Anschütz and Alexander Strähuber. Was friends with Joseph Brandt, was a fan and follower of his work. Their labs horizontally with each other, together they travel to Ukraine and Volyn, Szerner was also in Orońsko, where Józef Brandt had his summer home from 1874 to 1909 he belonged to in Munich Kunstvereinu, participated in its exhibitions. His works have also been exhibited in Krakow, Lwow and Warsaw.

Create realistic images of battle, characterized by meticulous play outfits and weapons from the time of the wars of Swedish, Tatar, and battles with the Cossacks. Also painted scenes from the vicinity of Krakow and Hutsul.

Władysław Szerner (ur. 3 czerwca 1836 w Warszawie, zm. 4 stycznia 1915 w Unterhaching, Niemcy[1]) - polski malarz. Ukończył Instytut Szlachecki, a od 1862 kształcił się w Szkole Sztuk Pięknych w Warszawie pod kierunkiem Rafała Hadziewicza, Aleksandra Kamińskiego, Chrystiana Breslauera i Marcina Zaleskiego. Od 1865 przebywał w Monachium, gdzie kontynuował naukę w Akademii Sztuk Pięknych, do grona jego nauczycieli należeli Alexander Wagner, Hermann Anschütz i Alexander Strähuber. Przyjaźnił się z Józefem Brandtem, był miłośnikiem i naśladowcą jego twórczości. Ich pracownie sąsiadowały ze sobą, razem odbywali podróże na Ukrainę i Wołyń, Szerner bywał też w Orońsku, gdzie Józef Brandt miał swój letni dom. Od 1874 do 1909 należał do działającego w Monachium Kunstvereinu, uczestniczył w jego wystawach. Jego prace były również wystawiane w Krakowie, Lwowie i Warszawie. Tworzył realistyczne obrazy batalistyczne, odznaczające się drobiazgowym odtworzeniem strojów i uzbrojenia z czasów wojen szwedzkich, tatarskich oraz potyczek z Kozakami. Malował także sceny rodzajowe z okolic Krakowa i z Huculszczyzny.
