Impressionistic riverscape with sailing boats was executed ca. in 1920s and due to the completelly identical style, impasto paint and composition was attributed to Austrian-Hungarian impressionist of first half of 20th century Edmund Pick-Morino (1877 Komorn - 1958 Dielbeek by Brussels). He settled early in Vienna, where he studied at the art school. Since 1898 he is in Munich, studied by Gabriel von Hackl, Ludwig Herterich und Ludwig von Löfftz at the Academy, his first works were influenced from art of other famous Munich painters Carl Schuch and Lovis Corinth. Later he studied in Florence by Arnold Böcklin and since 1901 - in Paris by Albert Besnard and Pascal Adolphe Dagnan-Bouveret. In 1910 he moved to Vienna, lived in Baden by Vienna and undertook study travells. During WWI he lived in Basel. Between1919 and 1929 was Pick-Morino in Vienna whwere he became in1921 the member of art union " Künstlerhaus". Later he lived in Fontenbleau by paris, travelled to South France, Italy, Orient, Germany, Hungary. In 1939 he settled in Budapest, where he changed his name to Morino or Morinyi. In 1958 he left Hungary and died in Belgium. Significance: Edmund Pick Morino began to paint in argillaceous way, but in France turned to the Impressionists. In the 1920s years approached his portraits, landscapes and cityscapes in the picturesque Austrian Expressionism embossing. His painting subjects were mainly still lifes and landscapes.

Inscription: unsigned,, on the reverse of stretcher old inscription with the name of the artist and stamps by Austrian monument office of export permit.

Measurements: unframed 17 1/3 " x 22 1/2" (44 x 57 cm), framed 21 2/3" x 26 3/4" (55 x 68 cm).

Condition: good, slightly cracked.
