Romantic monumental painting with a nude resting after the bath on bank of a forest brook. It was executed in 1872 by important German romanticist Carl(Karl) Adolf Gugel (1820 Bergzabern/Bavaria - 1885 Munich). The artist studied since 1839 at the Munich Academy, he worked in Munich and exhibited here yearly in Munich Art Union his portraits, genre paintings with Italian and oriental beauties. In color he was leaning against the Venetian masters. He exhibited his works in 1869,1871,1883,1884 by renowed "Glass Palace" in Munich. Karl Gugel represented in the Neue Pinakothek in Munich and in the best private collections in Europa, Russia and USA (our 3 previous paintings by the same artist (sold a few years ago): "Andacht"; "Mädchen m it Mandoline" and "Junge Frau mit Tamburine" came also from different noble estates in Germany).
