Masterfully portrait miniature on ivory, dated 1818 and depicting young gentleman (according to the age of the author in the moment of the miniatiure creation (20 year old), probably it is his self-portrait). The author of this miniature, Eduard Friedrich Leybold (1798 Stuttgart - 1879 Vienna) was a member of a well-known family of portrait miniaturists, son of the miniaturist Johann Friedrich Leybold and brother of the miniaturists Carl Leybold and Gustav Leybold. He studied at the Vienna Academy and between 1822 and 1847 regularly exhibited at the academical exhibitions. He worked as portrait painter in oil , watercolor and in miniatures on ivory and was a lithographer also. From 1861 the artist was member of the "Wiener Kuenstlerhaus".
