High qualitative genre salon scene with flirting couple was created 1872 by listed French genre painter Felix Augustin Milius (1843 Marseille - 1894). The artist studied by Hyppolite Flandrin, Charles Gleyre and Edmond Hedouin. He exhibited his works in Salon de Paris since 1869. He engraved after Norbert of Goeneutte and Fromentin. He illustrated, in 1884, Rameau´s Nephew by Diderot.Literature: E. Benezit " Dictionary of painters, sculptors, decorators and etchers"(in French), Paris, 1999. "General Artist´s Lexicon " by Thieme/Becker, Leipzig, 1999; Bellier-Auvray, Dict.gen.

Inscription: signed and dated (18)72 lower right.

Technique: oil on canvas. Magnificent original period gold-plated frame .
