Portrait of a young lady posing by balustrade with romantic view over the sea on the background. This painting from the Art Deco time was executed in 1923 by well listed Austrian portrait painter Carl Theodor von Blaas (1886 - 1960). The artist came from the renowed Austrian artist´s family Blaas. He was the son of horse painter Julius von Blaas and husband of flower painter Helene Blaas-Leitenberger. Carl Theodor recieved his first training in the studio of his father and then studied at the Viennese Academy by Christian Griepenkerl and Julius Schmid. Finally he studied 4 years in the Special Art School in Munich by Carl von Marr and 2 years - in Paris by Lucien Simon, Rene Menard and Blanche. Since 1914 he worked in Vienna. He undertook several travels to Italy, Belgium, France. After WWI he lived and created in orders portraits of high society in USA (1929 - 1931), from 1932 to 1935 - in London and in Switzerland. until 1940 he lived in Vienna and then in Kitzbuehel/Tyrol. He was the favorite portrait artist of Austrian aristocracy. 1939 -1945 Nazis forbidden him to paint. Since 1923 - member of Viennese "Kuenstlerhaus", In 1956 he was awarded with the Golden Laurel "Könstlerhaus".
