Forest landscape with a peasant figure was executed ca. in 1840s in the style of famous Barbizon School. Due to the artist's monogramm and comparison with famous forest works by the same author we concluded that the work is fully consistent with the hand of French artist Camille Roqueplan (1800 Mallemort /Bouches-du-Rhone - 1855 Paris). He studied in Paris with Antoine-Jean Gros and Alexandre Abel de Pujol and became a student at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in February 1818. He painted genre pictures, especially from the high society as well as landscapes of great colors and magic of captivating light effect. In the historical museum at Versailles is a representation of the Battle of Elchingen.
