Masterfully painting with young shepherdess, which adorned herself with the water rose (original artist´s title: "Nymphaea alba" ). This painting was executed by very prominent German genre painter Karl Raupp (1837 Darmstadt - 1918 Muenich) and was represanted in the famous monography "List of paintings of 19th century"(in German) by F.von Boetticher, Leipzig,1892, page 365, No. 20 . Our work was exhibited in the Saxonian Artist Union in 1881. The author Karl Raupp (1837 Darmstadt - 1918 Munich) was landscape and genre painter , studied : by August Lucas in Darmastadt, by J.Becker in Frankfurt (156-18589 and by Piloty in Munich (1860-1866). Professor at the Nurnberg Art school, 1880-1914 - at the Munich academy, Founder and Chief of artists´ colony on Frauenwörth. Created motives from Chiemsee.

Museums: His works situated in the Nat.-Gallery Berlin, museum of Darmstadt, Modern Gallery Dresden, painting-collection in Mainz, Neu Pinakotek Munich, city gallery Nuernberg and province museum Muenster. Book works: "Hand book of fine art", Leipzig, 1912; "Artists Chronicle of Frauenchiemsee" and others.

Literature: Thieme/Becker "Lexicon of artists from antique to contemporary", Leipzig, 1999; "List of paintings of 19th century"(in German) by F.von Boetticher ,Leipzig,1892, page 365, No. 20; "General artist lexicon(AKL)" by Saur.

Inscription: signed lower left and titled "Munchen", on the reverse - old German indistinctly label with the info to the dimensions of painting and stamp art gallery Dr.Peters, Charlottenburg.

Technique: oil on canvas, Original period gilt frame.

Measurements: inframed w 32 " x 41 1/4" (81 x 105 cm); framed w 40 1/4" x 49 5/8" (102 x 126 cm).

Condition: in very good condition.
