Funny genre peasant scene was executed in 1838 by high quoted French historical, allegorical,genre, portrait and interior painter Jean Alphonse Roehn (1799 -Paris - 1864). Son of another French artist Adolphe Roehm. Jean Alphonse studied since 1813 under Regnault and Gros at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Exhibited his works since 1822 (portraits, genre paintings), was awarded with medall of sec.class in 1827. He was, like his father, an art teacher at the Lycée Louis-le-Grand: Roehn painted many interiors, where he likes to play light effects. His works are treated with extreme care, but often lack the freshness and colors.Museums: Paris, Le Havre,, Rouen,Bagneres-de-Bigorre ; Epinal.
