This seascape (probably from Normandy) was executed ca. in 1830s-1840s by good listed French marine painter Auguste (Jean Marie Auguste) Jugelet. He was born in 1805 in Brest, died in 1875 in Versaille. The artist studied by maeinist Theodor Gudin In Paris and was regulary represanted at the exhibitions of Salon de Paris from 1831 to 1870 with his marines, coastal and harbour paintings, as sea battles , landscapes from Bretagne and miniatures. His works situate in different French province museums: Chambery, Dieppe ("Louis-Phillipp visits harbour of Dieppe", "Battle French and Dutch-Spanish fleets"), Le Puy, Rochefort, Saint-Omer and Versaille (two sea battle paintings).

Inscription: signed lower left.

Technique: oil on board, original period gold-plated frame.

Measurements: unframed w 10 7/8" x h 6 7/8" (27,5 x 17,5 cm); framed w 15 3/4" x h 11 3/4" (40 x 30 cm).

Condition: in very good condition.
