This romantical painting with a beautiful peasant girl by the well was executed in 1868 by listed Genoese female painter Federica Giuseppina Giuliano Gervasoni. She was born in Quinto al Mare (Genoa), 1838, died in Quarto del Mille 1915. Studied by famous genre and historical painter Bartolomeo Giuliano and became his bride. She painted mostly genre paintings, and scenes of domestic life, such as "Disillusion" in the Gallery of Modern Art in Milan. The Museo Civico di Genova has her work " The return from work in the fields ".

Literature: Thieme/Becker "Allgemeines Lexikon der bildenden Künsler..", Leipzig, 1999; "General artist lexicon (AKL)" by Saur; in Italian: A.M.Comanducci"I Pittori Italiani Dell`Ottocento".

Inscription: twice signed and dated 1868 lower left.

Technique: oil on canvas. Magnificent antique gold-plated wood frame.

Measurements: unframed w 31 1/2" x h 41 " (80 x 104 cm); framed w 40 " x h 49 3/8 " (101,5 x 125,5 cm).

Condition: in good condition , professional cleaned , a pair of minimal retouchings and slippers on the back of the canvas.
