Masterfully genre scene with white horse and foal in a landscape executed by Brunswick court painter Hermann August Theodor Tunica (1826 Brunswick - 1907 ibid). He is the son of of another artist Christian Tunica. Hermann Tunica was educated in Brussels and Paris, where, he studied and copied by Horace Vernet the battle scenes. In the Alps, he painted from nature, before he returned to Brunswick and first as a freelance painter, then - according to financial difficulties and depression - as an art teacher at various schools worked. Tunica created portraits and history paintings, among others, portraits of King Friedrich Wilhelm IV and King George V. In 1881 he was appointed court painter.Provenance: purchased in the auctionshouse Pfückbaum,Germany in september 2014.
