Genre scene with sleeping Roman girl at the forest spring was executed in Rome in 1841 by German portrait, historical and genre painter Julius Moser (1805 (another source 1808 in Gumbinnen - 1879 in Berlin ). Julius Moser attended the Gymnasium in Königsberg . 1831-1836 he studied at the Berlin Academy of Art history and genre painting . He was a pupil of Wilhelm Hensel . In the years 1837 to 1840 he lived in Paris and was a pupil of Léon Cogniet (1837-1838 ) and 1838-1840 student of Paul Delaroche . 1840-1848 he was in Rome . Moser was a member of the Ponte Molle Society and was one of the founders of the German Artists Association . Moser was of Jewish origin and buried in the Jewish Cemetery Schönhauser Allee in Berlin. He is mainly known as a portrait of the Berlin Jewish bourgeoisie of the mid-19th century. He is a typical representative of the Biedermeier . In the Jewish museum of Berlin are his several works, Jewish portraits and a study of Italian peasant boy.

Condition: very good, original canvas , profess. cleaned, no any retouchings or paintlosses.
