It is the pair to the item No. 4343.

This masterfully Biedermeier still life with roses, cherries and melon was executed in 1844 by famous painter of Dutch origin Leopold von (van) Stoll (1809 - 1889). He was active in Warsaw and Cracov in 1828, and from 1830 to 1834 - in St. Petersburg, where he was busy designing floral arrangements for the Botanic Gardens. In the St. Petersburg Academy he was elected to the " designated " , and in 1831 was awarded the title of academician for the painting " Flowers and fruit group". In 1834, the artist came back to Austria to get a popular acclaim for his wonderful flower paintings and fruits. Ermitage in St.Petersburg has a few his still life and flowers paintings in its collection ( Cataloque of Ermitage, 1901) and in the Viennese Schönbrunn is his still life with the statue of the nymph Egeria.

Inscription: signed L. Stoll and dated 1844, lower right.

Technique: oil on canvas. Magnificent gold-plated frame.

Measurements: unframed w 17 1/2" x h 21 2/3 " (44,5 x 55 cm), framed w 22 1/4" x h 26 1/2" (56,5 x 67,5 cm)

Condition: in very good condition, canvas professionally relined.
