Lovely and humorfully genre work with a dachshund was executed by good listed Munich painter and art professor Gustav Rienäcker (1861 Blankenburg - 1935 Munich). The artist studied at the Art Academy in Duesseldorf, then Artesis Hogeschool Antwerpen and at the Academie royale des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles. In the end of 19th century Reinäcker settled in Munich, where he recieved acknowledge as portrait painter, worked as Professor of the Art Academy and teached painting for many futured famous painters.He was court portrait painter, executed portraits of German nobility (incl. Luise Victoria of Prussia and ernst August, Herzof von Braunschweig and Luneburg), also landscape sketches, still lifes and dog paintings. He exhibited many times in the Glaspalast, Munich (1904-1911 and 1929). several his works are in the official state collections and museums.

Inscription: signed lower right, on the back of board - remainder of a exhibition label with i ventory number.

Technique: oil on board. Antique gold-plated frame .

Measurements: unframed w 22 1/4" x h 29 7/8" (56,5 x 76 cm), framed w 27 1/8" x h 34 2/3" (69 x 88 cm).

Condition: in good condition.
