Portrait of the English bulldog ( the favorite dog of the artist in his studio) was executed in 1906 by listed Italian portrait and animale painter (dogs and horses) Alfredo Vaccari (1877 -Turin - 1933). Pupil of the Academy in Milan (under V.Bignami, C. Rapetti). Lived and worked before WWI long time in France (where we purchased this work). Illustrated for magazine " Monde Illustre" with dog, horse and horseman paintings under others of Princcipe di Piemonte (is now in the Turin Palazzo Ducale) ; Benito Mussolini ( the gift of the city Genoa to Duce).
