Studied after rejection at the ABK Vienna, first with his father Christian Georgius A. in Denmark, then with the painting schools R. Scheffer and L. Bauer (Strehblow) Vienna. After that, A. Faistauer, his later brother-in-law, was the first prototype. He and G. Schütt accompanied him on student trips, including to Italy. In 1911 he joined as a member of the Neukunstgruppe together with A. Faistauer, A. Kolig, FOLLOWING Wiegele, E. Squint and Kokoschka in the Hagenbund union a; artist. Orientation towards the postal impressionists, in P. Cézanne, V. van Goghs, P. Gauguin. After 1918 secretary and manager partly of the "art show" in 1908/09 of "special alliance". 1919 Mitgl. from A. Faistauer founded Salzburg Vrg "Aquarius". After 1918 creators first mod. Austrian Gobelins. In 1919 establishment of a sign school for war homecomers and art teachers in the Meidlinger National education-. 1921 co-grounder of the Viennese Gobelin manufacture; member of New Munich Sezession; in 1932-39 and from 1945 of the Viennese Secession. Since 1945 Prof. of the ABBR. Vienna, in 1946-48 its rector, to 1965 leader of a master class (student among other K. Absolon, J. Avramidis, G. Hoke, FOLLOWING 100 water, A. Scantier). Awards: 1925 silver state prices and golden honor medall of the co-operative picture. Artist; gold medall of Viennese artist´s house; in 1953 acknowledgment price city of Vienna; 1939 Prof. titles. From impressionistic-expressionistic starting points Andersen developed early a constructive-chill, at the same time also with a certain Lyrismus full and painting effective every now and then in still life, sceneries, interiors and figure pictures whose sketchy arrangement was often maintained. The skeletal-like structure is a static, A.s Kolorismus a restrained one. His surface geometry reminds now and then of rhythmicized-abstracted forms of expression with J. Villon. Law and rule, methodology and theory (which the teacher knew to transmit fruitful) determine a work which remained to natural creation principles and orders on the track.
