This monumental genre s ene in the palace park was executed by renowned Munich painter Hermann Koch (1856 Dömitz - 1939 Munich). Hermann Koch was born as the son of architect Friedrich Koch. He studied 1875 to 1877 at the Nuremberg Art School in August of Kreling sculpture and 1877 to 1882 painting at the Munich Academy with Ludwig von Löfftz and Wilhelm von Lindenschmit the Younger. Koch was a member of the Munich Artists ´ association and lived in Munich until his death.His works include Tintoretto, the corpse of his daughter painting (1881/82), Ave Maria (1883), Ingeborg am Meer (1886), The Echo (1888), funeral of a convent nurse in Women´s Chiemsee (1891, 2nd version 1909) and Countess Hohenthal-Güchau.

Technique: oil on canvas. Original period gold-plated frame.

Measurements: unframed w 53 1/2" x h 36 2/3" (136 x 93 cm), framed w 57" x h 40 1/3" (144,5 x 102,5 cm).

Condition: in very good condition, original canvas professionally relined.
