Extremelly rare antique view of Naviglio di Porta Romano in Milan (the canal along via Francesco Sforza) , this small round oil painting was executed in 1835 by Italian architecture and landscape painter Govanni Battisto Dell’Acqua (1788 - Milan - 1868 ). The artist was born in Milan on 13 August 1788. A pupil of Giovanni Migliara, at the Academy Brera in Milan, he devoted himself to the city views of small format, inside caves or underground, nocturnal with moonlight. His works are very rare on the international art market. He died in Milan on 9 September 1868.

Identical view of the same artist (oil on canvas, also dated 1835, with more larger dimensions) is in the museum of fashion in the Palace Morando Bolognini /Milan (see our additional image).

Inscription: signed and dated G. Batt. Dell’ Acqua 1835 on the edge of image.

Technique: oil on metal, laid down on paper. Under original convex glass. Original period Italian gold-plated frame.

Measurements: unframed diameter (15 cm), framed w (cm) .

Condition: in very good original condition.
