Masterfully hand-painted laquer box "The Rooks Have Arrived", after a textbook landscape of the same name by prominent Russian artist Alexei Savrasov (1830-1897). Original painting by Savrasov (Russian title: "Ãðà÷è ïðèëåòåëè") is in the Tretyakov State Gallery in Moscow. Our lacquer box was executed on the famous lacquer manufacture Fedoskino ca. in 1980s and signed by the artist.

Inscription: signed Russian lower right, on the back of the box inscribed: Made in USSR and inventory number.
Technique: lacque, oil on papier-mashe (a construction material that consists of pieces of paper, sometimes reinforced with textiles, stuck together using a wet paste (e.g., glue, starch, or wallpaper adhesive). The crafted object becomes solid when the paste dries).
Measurements: 3 1/4" x 3 7/8" 2 2/3 " x "(8,3 x 9,7 x 7/8 cm ).
Condition: in very good condition.
