Winter landscape with figures of wood collectors was executed by very important Austrian-Dutch painter Remigius Adrianus van Haanen ( 1812 Oosterhout - 1894 Bad Aussee). In the begin as pupil of his father an the Utrecht Academy , later studied in Amsterdam and then moved to Frankfurt am Main, Stuttgart and Munich (1834-1836). Since 1837 he lived in Vienna, from where he travelled to most europian states , also to Russia(1852-1854). R.v.Haanen became the world reputation for his winter landscapes in the old master style.He was a member of Art Academies in Amsterdam, St.Petersburg, Milan, Venice and Vienna.
