Historical scene "Napoleon with his troops on the march" was executed in1906 by listed French military painter Emile Chepfer (1876 Nancy - 1944). He studied at the Drawing school (director Theodore Louis Devilly) in Nancy and later received acknowledge for his military scenes from the time of Napoleon Bonaparte . Also he painted landscapes and genre scene in impressionistic style.

Works: Fine Art Museum of Nancy.Exhibitions: Nancy, Salon; Retirement Salon; Saint-Dié, Salon.

Literature: Harcos, 1991, several similar works in the date base www.artprice.com.

Inscription: signed and dated 1906 twice lower right.

Technique: oil on canvas. Usually original period frame with hand-carved relief symbols of the First Empire.

Measurements: unframed w 15 " x h 18 1/8 " (38 x 46 cm); framed w 20 " x h 23 1/4 " (51 x 59 cm).

Condition: in very good condition.
