Impressionistic coastscape with surf, probably on Neapolitan coast, was executed in 1930s by German portrait and seascape painter Gertrude Wenk-Praun. She was pupil of her father, Munich seascape painter Albert Wenk (1863 - 1934), also spent years with his father travelling in South Italy, and along portraits of Italian women created also seascapes with similar motives to the paintings of her father.
