Very fine Art Nouveau bronze figure, executed in two colours and depicts a half-nacked oriental snake charmer. Due to our comparison with very similar subjects we attributed this sculpture to Belgian bronze sculptor Alfonse De Tombay ( 1843 - 1918), who created on the turn of 20th century this motive in different dimensions ( see similar images in google.com).
Alphonse de Tombay, born in 1843 in Liège and died in 1918 in Brussels, is a Belgian sculptor.Student of Prosper Drion at the Academy of Fine Arts in Liege, he obtains in 1873 a grant from the Lambert Darchis Foundation and stays in Rome from 1874 to 1878. On his return to Belgium, he moved to Brussels, where he dies in 1918.
