Idillic genre scene with child and his mother returning from the market, was executed by listed Belgian genre and historical painter Alfonse Cornet (1814 - Antwerp - 1874). Pupil of Petrus Kremer in Antwerp, later drawing teacher. Historical paintings and genre scenes, workad also as restorer.

Inscription: signed and dated (18)54 lower left, antique wood plaque with the artist´s name mounted to the original frame.
Technique: oil on mahagony wood panel. Original period gold-plated frame.
