Pair of monumental portraits in splendid original period frames depicts married couple and was executed in 1855 by Austrian portrait painter Joseph ( Johann) Christoph Mayr, who was active in Vienna in the sec.quarter of 19th century. It´s known not many works by him, we found two similar pair of portraits sold in Dorotheum in 2017 (as Johann Christian Mayer) a pair of oval portraits sold ibid in 2014 (as Joseph Christoph Mayr).

Inscription: both signed and 1855 lower right. gned lower right.

Technique: both oil on canvas. Splenid original period gilt frames.

Measurements: each unframed: w 37 3/4" x h 47" (96 x 119,5 cm), framed : w 49 1/4" x h 59" (125 x 150 cm ).

Condition: in very good condition, original canvases.
