Unique watercolor depicting a military Ukrainian cossack on patrol, was executed c. in 1890-1900 by Ukrainian artist-Internat (in Russian: Peredvizhnik) and representative of realism art Grigory Konivich Dyatchenko (Dyachenko), born 1869 in Kirillovka, Kiev gouvernement, died in Kiev in 1921.

After graduating from the Kiev Drawing School in 1889, where he studied under the guidance of Nikolai Murashko, he went to St. Petersburg, where he entered and in 1894 graduated from the Higher Art School at the Imperial Academy of Arts. Received 4 silver medals: 2 (1892), 1 (1893), 1 (1894). The title of class artist of the 3rd degree (11/05/1894) for the painting "Meeting of the rays".

From 1895 he taught painting and drawing at the Kiev drawing school. Among his famous students are Mikhail Kozyk and Vasily Silvestrov.In Kiev, from 1909 to 1921, he lived at Andreevsky Spusk, 15, in the so-called Richard´s Castle - Lion´s Heart.He died in Kiev and was buried at the Baikovo cemetery.

Dyadchenko is a landscape and portrait painter. He made many drawings with watercolors and colored pencils.He painted small poetic landscapes ("Courtyard", "Meeting of Rays", 1884; "Levada", series "Kirillovka Village", "Stugna River", 1895; "Evening over the Dnieper", "Kiev. View of the Podol" , 1912; "Cloud over the Dnieper", 1919), portraits, which were distinguished by subtle psychologism (F. Krasitsky, 1884; "The girl´s head", 1892; sculptor F. Balavensky, 1907) and others).

G. Dyadchenko´s works are kept in the National Art Museum of Ukraine in Kiev, Lviv Museum of Ukrainian Art, Poltava and Kharkov art museums.

Technique: watercolor on paper or cardboard (never open), matted and in antique frame.

Measurements: image w 4" x h 5 3/4"(10 x 14,5 cm), matted and framed w 11 1/3" x h 14 1/2" (29 x 37 cm).
