Still life with roses in a copper vase was executed by Austrian still life and landscape painter Louis Letsch, actually Ludwig Andreas Letsch (1856 in Wolfurt, Vorarlberg - 1940 in Strasbourg), who was active in France.
He studied painting with Gebhard Flatz in Bregenz, from 1878 he became a student of the history and genre painter Tony Robert-Fleury and the École academique de Paris in Paris. From 1889 he lived in Mulhouse in Alsace, where he founded the artist group Palette, from 1920 he lived in Strasbourg. Louis Letsch worked as a landscape, still life and flower painter, but he is best known for his flower still lifes.
