Monumental seascape with a mermaid on the rocky shore was executed by Paul von Spaun (1876 - 1932 Munich), German landscape and seascape painter, son-in-law of another German painter Karl-Wilhelm Diefenbach. Spaun´s strong, kolourful coastal landscapes from the area Capri are very popular by the international public.

Inscription: signed and dated 1906, lower left.

Technique: oil on canvas. Original period frame.

Measurements: unframed w 58 5/8" x h 30 1/8" (149 x 76,5 cm); framed w 65" x h 37 1/3" (165 x 95 cm).

Condition: in good condition due to the age, professionally cleaned and restored, a few patches on the canvas back due to the restored areas.
