This genre scene in a teahouse ( in Russian : tchajhana) in Transcaucasus was executed by well-knowed Russian painter Alexey Danilovich KIVSHENKO ( 1851 Ujezd Wenjov/ Russian Empire - 1895 Heidelberg) probably after his travel to Transcaucasia ( Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan) in 1884 in the order of Russian tsar Alexander III.

Alexey Danilovich Kivshenko (March 10 (22), 1851, Venevsky district, Tula province, Russian Empire - October 2, 1895, Heidelberg, German Empire) - Russian painter, close to the Itinerants. The author of the famous historical painting "The Military Council in Fili", which captures one of the most important moments of the Patriotic War of 1812. He is also known for a series of battle canvases on the themes of the Russian-Turkish wars, as well as canvases on historical, everyday and hunting themes.

Kiwschenko studied at the drawing school of the St. Petersburg Imperial Society for the Promotion of the Arts with Ivan Nikolajewitsch Kramskoi. In 1867 he became a guest student at the Imperial Academy of the Arts (IACh) and in 1870 a student at the IACh. He received medals for his work during his studies. In 1880 Kiwschenko traveled abroad on a scholarship from the IACh and worked in Düsseldorf, in Munich with Gabriel von Max and Wilhelm von Diez and in Paris. After his return he taught from 1883–1889 at the St. Petersburg Central School for Technical Drawing of Baron Alexander von Stieglitz. 1884 Kiwschenko was appointed an IACh academician with the paintings he created during his stay abroad. In the summer of 1884 he traveled to Transcaucasia to collect materials for Alexander III. to collect ordered paintings. There he then painted some events of the Russo-Ottoman War (1877–1878).

In 1891 Kiwschenko took part in the archaeological expedition Nikodim Pavlovich Kondakov to Palestine and Syria, Turkey, from which Kiwschenko brought with him many studies of nature and life. In 1893 Kiwschenko became a full member and in 1894 head professor of the Master Battalion of the IACh. He was close to the hikers.
