Orientalist painting with Arabs in the front of the Great Sphinx in Giza /Egypt was executed in 1904 by renown Austrian painter - orientalist Tony Binder (1868 Vienna - 1944 Nördlingen).

Studied: Academy in Vienna and Munich . As an example, Binder came in contact with the orient painter Camille Boiry even before 1890, this connection was occasion, in 1890 set off on an extended trip to Upper Egypt. In 1891 he settled in the then famous seaside resort of Cairo Helwan. 1894 was followed by a stay in Istanbul, in 1895/96 in Alexandria and Cairo. Until 1901 several trips to and from Egypt to Italy (including Naples, Rome, Florence, Venice, Milan). In this time stays in Munich and Vienna also. There he married Mary Reiser, with whom he went to live in Alexandria. 1905/06 and 1909 was followed by stays in Greece. 1911 trip to France (Marseilles, Lyon, Paris) to England (London), 1912 to Rhodes and Istanbul, 1913 back to Luxor. At the outbreak of the first World War II came, in British internment. Then he turned first to Munich, where he and his wife together led the studio Reiser& Binder. Settled in 1922 finally Dachau. 1923 and 1925 once again short stays in Alexandria, and later, probably1932/33 and 1938, the Red Sea and Suez. The Egyptian Caliph Abbas II Hilim was said to be patron and friend of Binder, and have raised him to the status of a court painter. Since 1919 became the artist member of the Munich Artists ´Association, later he was a member of the Artists´ Association Dachau. - Numerous travels through the Middle East have shaped the work of Binder sustainable. Presentations of oriental interiors, scenes or landscapes belong to the main motives of his works. He has also been active as a portraitist, etc. with work for the Egyptian members of Ruling family. Since then he lived in Bavaria, he also painted landscapes nearby Dachau. The works of Binder are going in the coloristic experience of plein air painting and the influence of a late impressionists.
