Animalistic painting with two hares in the forest was executed by German animals and hunting painter Johannes (Johannes Christian) Deiker ( 1822 Wetzlar - 1895 Duesseldorf). Son of Friedrich, older brother of Carl Friedrich, father of Hans D. First lessons with his father in Wetzlar, then at the drawing academy Hanau, since 1841 at the Städel in Frankfurt, especially with Jacob Becker (portrait, history). Termination of training after the death of his father, takes over his teaching at the grammar school in Wetzlar in 1843/44. Due to the family´s financial hardship, he decided not to study at the Düsseldorf Academy (offer from Johann Wilhelm Schirmer) and instead became court painter for Prince Ferdinand von Solms at Braunfels Castle. By participating in exhib. Increasing fame in Hanover and especially in Munich, followed by commissions from aristocratic circles for hunting pictures. Number Sales abroad. Studied in Antwerp in 1850/51. In 1868 he moved to Düsseldorf, where his brother Carl Friedrich D. was based. 1871-1895 member of the artist association Paint box. - Portr., Genre and landscapes were created in Braunfels, and increasingly also animal and hunting paintings. The portraits are characterized by precise drawing and fine painting. and accurate reproduction of the sitter. D. painted animals in a similarly natural way; In contrast to the comp. by brother Carl Friedrich D., the hunting scenes are more natural and less dramatic.
