Street scene with hookah smokers in old Jerusalem was executed in 1934 by Franz Kienmayer (1886-1963). The German-Austrian figure and landscape painter Franz Kienmayer was born in Vienna and worked in Vienna, Predlitz, Graz and finally in Leipzig and Baden-Baden. He travelled to Italy and Orient. In 1937 he exhibited at the great German art exhibition in Munich.
