Large Russian laquer papier-mashe box with hand painted scene with Troika ride was executed around 1870 probably, on the famous Russian imperial manufacrture Wasili Osipowitsch Wischnjakow and sons.

Technique: lacque, oil on papier-mashe ( a construction material that consists of pieces of paper, sometimes reinforced with textiles, stuck together using a wet paste (e.g., glue, starch, or wallpaper adhesive). The crafted object becomes solid when the paste dries).
Measurements: width 7 3/4" x length 6 7/8" x width 3 1/8" (19, 5 cm x 17,5 cm x 8 cm) .
