Romantic seascape with view of Ischia from Neapolitan coast was executed by Swiss-German landscape and marine painter Johann Rudolf Rapp (1827 Basel - 1903 Munich).

Rapp studied in Basel under L.A. Kelterborn and in Geneva under A.Calame, travelled to Italy, Paris and Munich. Since 1868 settled in Munich. His landscape in moon light is the Art collection of Basel ( catalogue 1910).
