Rare early portrait of a young lady with her favourite dog against the backgound of a romantic landscape was executed in 1820 by listed Slovakian - Hungarian painter Marianne Fricart, active in 1820s in Pressburg (Bratislawa). Her portrait of Countess Caroline Zay situated im Museum of Bojnice (Slovakia).

Literature: "Allgemeines Künstlerlexikon" by K.G. Saur , "Pressburger Zeitung " on 18.10.1825, 1113
Inscription: signed Marianne Fricart and dated 1820, lower right

Technique: oil on canvas. Original period gold-plated hand-carved wooden frame .

Measurements: unframed w 22 1/2" x h 27" (57 x 68.5 cm), framed w 28 2/3" x h 33 1/2" (73 x 85 cm)

Condition: in good condition, the piece was restored some years ago, there is a patch on the reverse and an inpainting due to it (in the upper right quadrant on the wall), fine craquelures due to age
