A pair of very decorative still lifes with grapes, watermelon and melon was executed in 1905 by a representative French school, signed Christopher. Due to the label of the canvas back , the artist Christophe was active in Marseille.
Source : in the date bank artprice.com we found under artist's name hristophe fully identical still life with grapes and watermelon, sold on 18 nov 2017 in Marseille in auction sale of Maison R&C.
Inscriptions: both signed and dated 1905, on the canvas back - a label of Cathedrale canvas producer in Marseille.
Technique: both: oil on canvas, original period wooden frames.
Measurements: each unframed 21 2/3" x 15 1/8" (55 x 38,5 cm), framed 28 1/2" x 21 7/8"(72,5 x 55,5 cm).
Condition: good original condition.
