Impressionistic  painting with walkers in a park avenue was executed around 1920s in the style of well-known Munich painter Max Liebermann (1847-1935). The author of our painting is Rudolf Jelinek (1880 in Brno, Margraviate of Moravia - 1945 in Želešice (German Schöllschitz), Czechoslovakia). The artist was a German-Moravian self-taught painter, lithographer and illustrator. The focus of his work was in the field of landscape and portrait painting in the Romantic style.

Studied at the German Technical University in Brno and attended courses in landscape drawing with Anton Hlavaček (1842-1926) in Vienna. He undertook study trips to Switzerland, northern Italy and southern France.

He lived in Brno and from 1900 worked as a trainee, clerk and auditor in the accounting department of the District Court in Brno. After his retirement in 1925 he took up residence in Schöllschitz (Czech: Želešice). He died completely blind in a labor camp near Brno in 1945 after the end of the Second World War.

Rudolf Jelinek was a very good landscape painter. His preferred motifs come from the city of Brno and its surroundings, the Pálava Hills (Pavlovské vrchy) and the city of Nikolsburg. By emphasizing light and shadow, he achieved a strong spatial impression in his landscape drawings. He regularly published his works in various German-Moravian newspapers and in the German Moravian Homeland magazine.

He was a member of the Metznerbund, the artists' association Die Juryfreie and the Moravian Art Association. He presented his work to the public at numerous exhibitions.
